Transformational Addition | Niles

This home was a complete gut rehab and modification to an existing, rather pedestrian 1950's ranch. The key architectural feature that was added was a dramatic vaulted ceiling that was inserted from the front of the house straight through to the back, with its corresponding projection expressed on the exterior.

The newly vaulted and beamed interior space houses the family room and dining room. The kitchen is directly off of the main space, defined with a flat ceiling.

The primary suite has the primary bedroom, walk-in closet and primary bathroom with a heated floor. To accommodate aging in place, the shower has a zero threshold sill, and the doorways and hallway are also wider. A highly functional mudroom connects the garage entry to the kitchen and the rest of the house.
